MANILA, Philippines - Raissa Laurel, the law student who lost both legs in the 2010 Bar exams blast, is now working as a member of the staff of Senator Aquilino "Koko" Pimentel III.

Laurel said she will be part of Pimentel's legal team by day and take her classes in the evening.

She is now in her third year at the San Sebastian College of Law.

"Part of the working force again ... thank you God for this day. You are amazing! " Laurel said on microblogging site Twitter on Monday. (https://twitter.com/raissalaurel )

It was also the first day of work for her boss.

Pimentel, who replaced resigned Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, promised to champion the cause of Mindanao.

He also vowed to push for electoral reforms and work towards the prosecution of the people behind electoral fraud.

The majority and minority blocs in the Senate are wooing Pimentel to join them.

He was sworn into office last week.

After 3 years of electoral protest, he was declared winner of the 12th spot in the 2007 senatorial race, which was marred with allegations of massive cheating. - reports from ANC
