MANILA, Philippines – Caloocan City Vice-Mayor Edgar “Egay” Erice filed plunder and graft charges against Mayor Enrico “Recom” Echiverri and 11 officials and private respondents before the Office of the Ombudsman on Monday.

The charges were in connection to the anomalous water service contract worth P415 million allegedly entered into by the local government of Caloocan under Echiverri in 2006.

Erice said for over 5 years, Caloocan paid for water services in certain areas already covered by Maynilad.

He added that the alleged contract also included a plant watering service in areas which do not have plants.

Erice, who also lodged a complaint against the Caloocan mayor for allegedly failing to remit GSIS premiums of city hall employees, said his latest move is not a personal attack against Echiverri.
