MANILA - The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) will investigate the alleged abduction of Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) ministers.
In a video posted on YouTube Wednesday, Felix Nathaniel "Angel" Manalo, son of former executive minister Eraño "Erdy" Manalo, and his mother, Cristina "Tenny," appealed for help, saying their lives were in danger and that some ministers were abducted and still missing.
Talking to media and police early morning Friday, Angel alleged they have been receiving threats from the INC's Sanggunian, or council of advisers, but denied being held against their will inside the Manalo home in Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
He, however, fears the fate of the alleged missing ministers.
Speaking to ANC's "Headstart" this morning, QCPD director Chief Supt. Joel Pagdilao said the families of the alleged victims can approach them to ask for help.
He said officers could not enter the Manalo home without a court order.
"Tinanong ko rin po sa kanya (Angel) kung meron pong mga ministro na kasama siya dun sa loob. Wala daw po. Ang kasama niya dun yung kapatid na dalawa, si Lottie at Beth, at saka yung mga anak po nila," Pagdilao said.
"Yung mga binabanggit niya pong ministro na meron daw nawawala, ito po ay parte ng ating iimbestigahan po," he said.
Isaias Samson Jr., an INC minister allegedly held captive inside his home, surfaced Thursday, saying the religious group's leaders accused him of writing a blog that revealed corruption practices and other irregularities inside the church.
He said he was suspended as minister, removed from the INC's official publication, and allegedly detained in his compound, near the INC's central office, with his family members.
He said he wants to talk to executive minister Eduardo Manalo to resolve the issue. -- with report from ANC
