MANILA, Philippines (5th UPDATE) - Classes remain suspended Tuesday in some public and private schools in Metro Manila and nearby areas as floods brought by typhoon “Gener” have yet to subside.
The Department of Education and local government unit officers said classes in pre-school, elementary and high school in public and private schools in the following areas remain suspended:
- Arkong Bato, Valenzuela
- Balangkas, Valenzuela
- Bisig, Valenzuela
- Coloong, Valenzuela
- Isla, Valenzuela
- Mabolo, Valenzuela
- Palasan, Valenzuela
- Pariancillo Villa, Valenzuela
- Pasolo, Valenzuela
- Poblacion, Valenzuela
- Polo, Valenzuela
- Tagalag, Valenzuela
- Wawang Pulo, Valenzuela
- Panghulo Elementary School in Malabon
- Dampalit Elementary School in Malabon
Outside Metro Manila:
- Cavite
- Laguna
- Obando, Bulacan
- Dagupan City, Pangasinan
- Baguio City
- Bauan, Batangas
- Balayan, Batangas
- Laurel, Batangas
- Lemery, Batangas
- Malvar, Batangas
The following schools in Bacoor, Cavite also suspended classes:

Based on PAGASA’s forecast, Gener will continue to bring rains over Luzon and Visayas, especially the western section, as it enhances the southwest monsoon.
As of 4 a.m., Gener was located 180 kilometers east northeast of Basco, Batanes.
It had slowed down at 8 kilometers per hour and was moving in a northwest direction.
It was packing maximum sustained winds of 120 kph near the center with gustiness of up to 150 kph.
