MANILA, Philippines - An Army sergeant died a tragic death after being hit by a speeding black van while crossing a dark road inside Fort Bonifacio in Taguig City, late Monday night.

Police identified the victim as T/Sgt. Domingo Alimorong.

Relatives said Alimorong went out of his house after a fight with his wife. Police said the victim was hit by the black van while crossing McKinley Road, in front of the Philippine Army's support command headquarters, around 11 p.m..

"Nasa loob kami tapos may narining kaming lumagabog. Sumisigaw iyong bakla, sabi niya may nasagasaan daw. Paglabas namin nakabulagta na siya dyan," Staff Sgt. Ronnie Natividad, one of Alimorong's buddy, told ABS-CBN News.

Authorities said Alimorong's left hand was cut off and different parts of his body were disfigured as the van dragged his body 20 meters after the collision.

Despite the tight security within the military camp, authorities failed to catch up on the black van, which sped off after hitting the Army officer. -- Report from Pia Gutierrez, ABS-CBN News
