MANILA, Philippines – Pasay City officials arrested and detained 20 men Monday night for violating the City Ordinance.

The suspects were arrested after being caught by police drinking in public and being shirtless.

Some of the suspects complained that the arrests made were unfair.

“Nag-aayos lang ako ng tindahan, siyempre nabasa yung damit ko. Nag-alis ako ng damit kaysa naman magkasakit ako,” said Jun Briones, one of the arrested suspects.

Those caught smoking in public areas will also be apprehended, in light of the no-smoking policy enforced by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The Anti-Criminality Ordinance of Pasay aims to prevent crimes in the area.

“Sa 201 barangays, every night and every day magkakaroon kami ng malawakang operasyon,” said Freddie Veloso of the Barangay Peacekeeping Action Team. -- Report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
