MANILA, Philippines – Heavy rains in Metro Manila Tuesday night caused floods that swamped Laura Drive, Barangay Bagumbayan in Taguig City.

Houses in the barangay were submerged in flood water, forcing some 30 families to evacuate their homes.

The evacuees were temporarily housed by the Taguig Rescue Team in an unfinished housing project by Gawad Kalinga.

Taguig Rescue Team said they do not have sufficient equipment but they are always prepared.

Residents said the flooding was caused by clogged and inefficient drainage systems in the area.

The evacuees will stay in the temporary homes indefinitely in anticipation of a “wet” weekend caused by the approaching tropical storm “Chedeng.” -- Report from Jacque Manabat, ABS-CBN News
