MANILA - Fire broke out Monday night at the roof deck of the Batasan Pambansa north wing in Quezon City.
The entire north wing remained without power on Tuesday.
According to House of Representatives secretary general Marilyn Barua Yap, initial investigation showed that the blaze started at an old telecommunication line that was being rehabilitated.
Yap, however, refused to give additional details until the city fire department completes its investigation.
Meanwhile, Celine Buencamino from the office of House Speaker Sonny Belmonte said that additional fire trucks were deployed to the building as precaution.
The fire did not affect the session hall where the consolidation and canvassing system that will be used for the presidential race is located.
