Metro Manila temperature soars to 36.2C

MANILA – Temperature in Quezon City soared to 36.2 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

PAGASA said the highest recorded temperature yesterday at the Quezon City Science Garden was just 0.2 degree Celsius lower than the highest temperature in Metro Manila for this year experienced last May 1.

The record for hottest temperature this year still belongs to Tuguegarao, which hit 39 degrees Celsius last April 25, while the hottest recorded in Metro Manila was 37.3 degrees Celsius last April 29 in Pasay (NAIA).

The historically hottest temperatures are 38.5 degrees Celsius at the Science Garden on May 14, 1987; 38.6 degrees Celsius in Port Area, Manila on May 7, 1915; and 42.2 degrees Celsius in Tuguegarao on May 11, 1969.
