MANILA – The northbound lane of the Ayala tunnel was closed to traffic for almost an hour after a sports utility vehicle (SUV) caught fire.

Traffic enforcers of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said the northbound lane of the tunnel had to be closed after visisbilty was almost reduced to zero because of the thick smoke coming from the burning silver Honda CRV.

The car, which had a plate number XHZ 545, was driven by a certain Dra. Jocelyn Javier.

SPO2 Felix Bartolome said that, according to the driver, the car suddenly stopped. After this, she smeeled gasoline, until the car caught fire.

No one was hurt in the incident.
