MANILA (2nd UPDATE) – A woman died after falling off the Renaissance Tower 1000 building in Ortigas, Pasig City before dawn on Thursday, police said.

The woman, identified as Helena Belmonte, 28, fell off the building's 28th floor and landed on an air-conditioning unit exhaust vent at the 7th floor at around 1:30 a.m., authorities said.

Belmonte, a commercial model, was with friends inside Unit 28-E reportedly owned by her boyfriend Marcel Crespo when the incident occurred.

Crespo and his friends said they thought that the model was just sleeping.

However, when they went to check the victim in the bedroom, she was already gone.

The model allegedly had some drinks before the incident.

Crespo said he and Belmonte had a fight recently, but they were able to patch things up.

Belmonte seemed depressed in her Twitter posts before she died.

"Slash my wrists and hope to die," she said in one post.

"I wonder if an exorbitant shopping spree can cure all the sadness I feel.. Maybe not, but it would still feel better than feeling poor," another post said.

A suicide note supposedly from Belmonte was recovered, but police have yet to divulge its contents, it was learned.

Belmonte is a daughter of Loraine Belmonte, founding creative director of Mega Magazines.

Belmonte's family has yet to issue a statement. – with a report from Kori Quintos, ABS-CBN News
