MANILA – Bureau of Immigration commissioner Ronaldo Geron is set to file charges against a BI employee for usurpation of authority.
Geron said Alien Control Officer Julius Jamorabon on February 15 sent letters to the consul of Japan and consul general of China, saying that he will be conducting inspections on Japanese and Chinese nationals in Cebu.
Geron said Jamorabon was not authorized to conduct such activities without the approval of the BI commissioner. He said charges will be filed against Jamorabon before the Office of the Ombudsman.
The bureau also sacked a confidential agent after a British national complained that he was illegally subjected to a background check.
Geron said the confidential agent went to the 72-year-old British national's house in Silang, Cavite in February supposedly to conduct an investigation.
The BI chief said a mission order is needed for a confidential agent to conduct an inspection on a foreign national. – report from Zyann Ambrosio, ABS-CBN News
