PNoy asked to make an appeal for Ramona's extradition

MANILA, Philippines – Ramon Joseph “RJ” Bautista, one of the suspects in last October's killing of his brother Ramgen Revilla, attended the pre-trial hearing at the Parañaque court on Thursday.

In the pre-trial, almost all suspects were present except for Ramgen’s sister Ramona Bautista, who is abroad.

The camp of Ramgen's girlfriend, Janelle Manahan, believes that Ramona is the missing link in the investigation.

Manahan’s camp called on authorities to step up efforts to bring her back to the country.

“We are requesting the President [Aquino] to intervene and make a presidential request to the Turkish president in order for the Turkish government to initiate the repatriation of Ramona Bautista,” said Atty. Argee Guevarra, one of Manahan’s lawyers.

RJ said that although Ramona was not present at the hearing, he is ready to face the case.

“We can do it. We can finish this fight. We can find justice for my brother and my family,” he said.

The pre-trial will resume on March 15.

Meanwhile, Ramgen's other sister Gail and her husband Hiro have sued Manahan for perjury for linking them to the murder.

Interpol wanted persons list

Ramona has been placed by the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol) on its wanted list of international fugitives.

Inclusion on Interpol's red notice list means that police authorities in 188 member-states are requested to arrest Ramona and extradite her to the Philippines.

The Interpol list includes the most notorious fugitives around the world, such as Assaadi Gaddafi, who is accused of involvement in Libya's brutal crackdown.

Ramona’s mother Genelyn Magsaysay expressed dismay over this development.

“Parang ginawa nilang terorista si Ramona. May petition for review pa kami na dapat dinggin. Ang payo ko at ang payo ng mga abogado ay hindi pa siya pwedeng umuwi sa ngayon,” she said.

Ramona fled the country last November after she was tagged in the case. She has repeatedly denied involvement in the murder of her brother and the murder attempt on Manahan. -- Report from Zyann Ambrosio, ABS-CBN News
