MANILA – A 10-wheeler truck caught fire on the southbound lane of the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx) near the Alabang Viaduct in Muntinlupa City.

Truck driver Marciano Aluba said he first saw smoke coming from the engine brake at past 5 a.m., which was quickly followed by fire.

Thus, he parked the vehicle on the outer lane of the road.

Aluba and his three other passengers, who were on their way to Canlubang, Laguna from Valenzuela to deliver steel round bars, were not hurt in the incident.

The incident caused traffic to build up in the area. The entire southbound lane was closed to traffic and was only re-opened after the fire was put out past 6 a.m. - report from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
