MANILA, Philippines – A 6-month-old baby boy was killed in a fire that hit a residential area in San Andres, Paco, Manila on Saturday.

Fire Chief Inspector Bonifacio Carta of the Bureau of Fire Protection said 40 families lost their homes in the fire, which started in the home of the victim’s father Crisanto Llanes.

The fire, which lasted for 2 hours, quickly spread and reached the fourth alarm because the homes were made of light materials.

Authorities estimated the damage to cost P500,000.

They have yet to determine the cause of the fire. Investigations are ongoing. -- Report from Johnson Manabat, dzMM
