MANILA (2nd UPDATE) – Maconacon, Isabela Mayor Erlinda Domingo was shot dead outside a Quezon City apartelle on Tuesday night.

Supt. Pedro Sanchez, chief of Quezon City Police District Station 2, said Domingo was about to board her maroon Mitsubishi Adventure outside the Park Villa Apartelle at the corner of Quezon Ave. and Examiner Road when she was shot twice in the head at around 8:30 p.m.

Her bodyguard, Bernard Plasos, was also hit by a bullet in his hip and is recovering at the East Ave. Medical Center.

Sanchez said suspect Christian Flores Pahinado was arrested after a witness to the ambush told the police of his whereabouts.

Sanchez said a tactical interrogation led to the arrest of two more suspects in Barangay Commonwealth and Culiat Compound in Tandang Sora.

The names of the two other suspects were not yet released. Police are also looking into the possibility that there are two more suspects involved in the shooting.

Isabela Gov. Faustino Dy, Domingo’s party-mate, said the mayor had no known enemies.

Former Isabela governor and now Commission on Elections commissioner Grace Padaca, meanwhile, took to micro-blogging site Twitter her outrage against the ambush.

"Slain mayor erlinda domingo of maconacon, isabela was vicemayor to mayor kiko talosig whn the latter was murdered.Pati babae hindi pinatawad," Padaca said.

Domingo was seeking a fresh term under the Nationalist People's Coalition in the May elections.
