Several employees of the Makati City Hall were trapped in an elevator Thursday morning after a brownout affected electricity in the city hall building.

Joey Salgado, a spokesman of Makati Mayor Jejomar Binay, said the employees were trapped inside the elevator at 10:30 a.m. and only got out 10 to 15 minutes later after power was restored.

He said strong winds tore a "No Cha-Cha Zone" tarpaulin banner outside the banner and touched a live wire, causing the brownout.

He said backup generators temporarily provided electricity in the new City Hall building until power was restored.
