Alexander “Alex” Reich

MANILA, Philippines – Police suspect that the body of a dead man found in Antipolo is that of missing Swiss student Alexander “Alex” Reich.

Police said the victim’s body was found dead along a road in Barangay San Roque, Antipolo last September 22.

“Dito lang siguro di-nump ‘yan,” said Supertindent Rodina Elfa, station commander of the Antipolo Police Station.

The consul of Swiss embassy in Manila visited the body Monday night and said that based on the tattoos on the victim’s body, there is a possibility that the victim may be the missing 24-year-old.

The victim’s body was found with a gunshot wound in his head.

However, police have yet to confirm if the victim is indeed Reich.

“’Yung motibo wala pa eh, ni-report lang ‘yan dito na missing person,” said Chief Inspector Rodelio Marcelo of the Quezon City Police District.

Reich was last contacted by his friends through his mobile phone at around 1 a.m. on September 22.

Before he went missing, Reich sent a text message saying he was onboard a white car with some friends.

Police said a white car was spotted and a gunshot was heard in the area where the body was found.

Investigations on the victim's identity are ongoing.

“Nahihirapan din kami. Although may naimbitahan na kami na mga kaibigan niya, sinasabi nga na simula ng September 22 ay hindi na siya nakita,” added Marcelo.

His family is set to arrive in the Philippines from Switzerland to identify the body.

Reich was a student of a language school in Quezon City. -- Report from Niko Baua, ABS-CBN News
