MANILA, Philippines – Several police officers are in hot water after they were caught on video squabbling over who would take home illegal fireworks that were confiscated last Saturday.
Senior Superintendent Florendo Quibuyen, division chief of the Regional Investigation and Detection Management Division, said some of the officers, who took home illegal fireworks such as “pla-pla”, “piccolo” and “Bin Laden”, have been identified.
He said a case will be filed against the officers and their superiors once the Quezon City Police District completes its list.
However, he admitted that it is also the PNP’s fault that the fireworks were not immediately disposed of, leading to the officers wanting to take them home.
The police officers in the video may be charged with grave misconduct, while their commanding officers can be charged with neglect of duty.
“May pagkakasala po sila, kailangan nilang maparusahan,” Quibuyen said.
