MANILA – With just over a year left in his term, President Benigno Aquino III said he wants the reforms carried out by his administration to become permanent.

In his New Year's message, Aquino recalled the achievements of his administration in the past year and called on all the Filipinos to help him make the reforms long-lasting and achievements better felt.

Aquino touted the achievements of his administration, incuding the intense preparations for super typhoon ''Ruby'' that saved lives of many people, the crafting the Bangsamoro Basic Law that seeks to end the decades-old Muslim secessionist rebellion in Mindanao, and the solving of the backlogs in the education sector.

The president also trumpeted the scholarship programs under the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) which he said helped brought better lives to many, and the Expanded Conditional Cash Transfer Program which alleviated the plight of the country's poorest.

On the economic front, Aquino said he is proud that under his administration, the Philippines managed to get ratings upgrade from various credit rating agencies.

'Beware of pretenders'

Aquino also warned the public against people pretending to be pro-people and pro-reforms. He said such people could bring the country back to where it was before he became president.
