MANILA - Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas acknowledged that Secretary Panfilo Lacson is qualified to run in for president in 2016, but there have been no talks on the latter joining the Liberal Party (LP).
“Ok naman, hindi naman napapag-usapan ang pagpasok nya. Ping has experience - national, [Philippine National Police] chief, nag-senador sya,” Roxas said.
He said he has not considered running as Lacson's vice president should the latter choose to run as president.
“Hindi ko naisip yon. Politics wala, di ko naisip. Pero hindi naman alam ng marami ang laman ng puso at utak ko," he said.
Roxas gave way to President Benigno Aquino III in the 2010 elections, choosing instead to be his running mate in the Liberal Party.
He lost to Vice President Jejomar Binay, who teamed up with former President Joseph Estrada. Roxas has a pending electoral protest.
Meanwhile, Roxas reiterated there was no politics involved in Lacson's appointment as rehab czar. He asked the public to stop speculating about the appointment.
He said the estimated damage brought about by Yolanda is P33 billion.
He said Lacson now has a detailed list of priorities on what will be rebuilt. – from a report by Karen Davila, ABS-CBN News
