MANILA -- Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, who has become famous for his high-profile clients, revealed that his "ultimate dream" is to become the legal counsel of President Benigno Aquino III.
Topacio's list of high-profile clients include former President and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, former First Gentleman Mike Arroyo, and former Sr. Supt. Cezar Mancao II, one of the accused in the Dacer-Corbito double murder case.
His other clients include celebrities Claudine Barretto and Yasmin Kurdi.
When asked why he agrees to counsel for controversial personalities despite the flak, Topacio said this is just "part and parcel" of his profession.
He cited the time he received death threats while handling the case of Mancao. That was the only time actually na nagkaroon ako ng security, iniiyakan ako ng nanay ko eh."
He also recalled being booed by activists and critics of the Arroyo administration while he was handling the former President's electoral sabotage case.
What is popular may not be necessarily right."
In the interview, the so-called "celebrity lawyer" clarified that the legal fees he receives from his clients are "ample enough" for his efforts.
"Hindi naman para magkaroon ng lifestyle of the rich and famous," he said.
