MANILA, Philippines - Another former military officer tagged in the kidnapping and murder of labor leader Rolando Olalia and his driver Leonor Alay-ay in 1986 has been arrested, police confirmed on Friday.
Chief Supt. Benito Estipona, Southern Police District (SPD) District Director, said police caught Sgt. Dennis Jabatan in Fort Bonifacio, Taguig on October 24.
Jabatan, a former member of the Reform the Armed Forces Movement (RAM), was issued a warrant of arrest by Antipolo Regional Trial Court Branch 98.
Estipona said the court ordered Jabatan to be brought to Rizal Provincial Jail. However, the jail declined to accept Jabatan due to lack of security facility.
SPD is now requesting the court to order the transfer of Jabatan to Bicutan Jail in Taguig.
Authorities are still waiting for the court's decision.
Col. Eduardo "Red" Kapunan Jr., former RAM leader, earlier surrendered to police in Fort Bonifacio on October 6.
Jabatan and Kapunan are among those ordered arrested last February over the double murder case of Olalia and Alay-ay, whose bodies were found in Antipolo City in November 13, 1986. -- Report from Dexter Ganibe, dzMM
