MANILA, Philippines - President Benigno Aquino III will be leaving for Laos on Sunday to attend the 9th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) Summit.
Presidential Deputy Spokesperson Abigail Valte, in an interview with Radyo ng Bayan, said Aquino will be joined by Philippine Ambassador to the Lao People's Democractic Republic Maria Lumen Isleta, Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert F. del Rosario, Finance Secretary Cesar V. Purisima, Trade Secretary Gregory L. Domingo, Energy Secretary Rene D. Almendras, Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio M. Balisacan and Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Sonny Coloma.
Aquino will immediately have a meeting with the Filipino community in Laos on Sunday night, just hours after arriving in said country, Valte noted.
It is still unclear, however, what the Philippine delegation will be pushing for during the ASEM meeting come Monday.
"I'm still trying to get confirmation on that, so far wala pa hong nakukuha," Valte said.
Aquino and other Philippine delegates are expected to meet with other heads of state during the summit, Valte said.
The President may also have the chance to talk with European officials about the recent positive developments in the Philippines and entice them in investing in the country, she added.
Aquino will be flying back home immediately after the summit concludes on Tuesday afternoon.
