LONDON - Sen. Edgardo Angara believes the Aquino administration should extend the utmost courtesy to former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and allow her and husband, Mike, to travel abroad to seek treatment.
In an interview with ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau, Angara said the government need not be alarmed about the possibility of the former President trying to escape while facing plunder charges and electoral fraud.
Angara was quoting some inside sources there was indeed a serious medical blunder in the multiple operations done for the former president that further aggravated her neck and spine problems.
He stressed the need for Arroyo to look for a second medical opinion and get the best neuro-surgeon.
Arroyo earlier wrote Justice Secretary Leila de Lima, appealing that she be allowed to seek medical treatment abroad on the promise she would return.
For her part, de Lima sought the help of Health Secretary Enrique Ona to examine the medical abstract of Arroyo if it justifies the need for medical leave outside Manila.
If allowed, Arroyo plans to travel to Singapore, Italy, Spain, Germany, London and the United States until December. Report from Danny Buenafe, ABS-CBN Europe News Bureau
