MANILA - Whistleblower Sandra Cam on Thursday filed her certificate of candidacy for the 2016 senatorial election.
Cam told reporters at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) that she will fight for the rights of overseas Filipino workers, senior citizens, and people behind bars.
She said she would also like to fight for the Philippines’ claim in the South China Sea (West Philippine Sea), majority of which is being claimed by China.
“Gusto ko pong magkaroon ng tunay na boses ang mamamayang Pilipino sa loob ng Senado,” she said.
If elected senator, Cam said the first bill she will file is an enhanced whistleblower’s act.
Cam, who is the head of the Whistleblowers Association of the Philippines, was behind several exposes during the time of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
