MANILA (UPDATED) - Janet Lim Napoles is quietly selling her properties, according to one of the lawyers of the whistleblowers in the pork barrel scam.

The properties include houses, condo units, and vehicles.

"Bagsak-presyo nila binebenta. Fastbreak dahil natatakot sila na makumpiska ng gobyerno," said Atty. Stephen Cascolan.

Napoles' former bookkeeper, Marina Sula, earlier revealed that Napoles owns more than 50 houses, lots, and condominium units, as well as more than 30 luxury cars in the Philippines and in the United States.

Her properties are believed to be worth more than P3 billion.

However, most are under the names of different people or companies.

"The properties are under 3 to 5 companies," Cascolan said.

He said they include JLN Corp., JLN Global Corp., and La Roca. Cascolan added that the properties and companies are really owned by Napoles.

Among those supposedly being sold is a 3,500 square meter property in Forbes Park, Makati, which is under La Roca Enterprises.

The Forbes Park property is worth P800 million.

Another is a 695 sq.m. house and lot in Magallanes village.

The whistleblowers' camp has a warning to potential buyers.

"Everybody knows there is a plunder case against Mrs. Napoles," Cascolan said. "You might be buying it at a low price but the government has the right to these properties."

On Monday, the lawyers of the whistleblowers will ask the Securities and Exchange Commission to revoke the licenses of companies owned by Napoles.

They will also ask the Land Registration Authority and the Land Transportation Authority to stop the sale of Napoles' properties and vehicles.

Atty. Lorna Kapunan, lawyer of Napoles, said her client's properties should not be frozen and barred from being sold.

She said Napoles has yet to be formally charged with plunder by the Ombudsman at the Sandiganbayan.

Kapunan also said if a freeze order is issued, it should include everyone involved in the pork barrel scam. - with ANC
