MANILA - Two politicians supported calls for the investigation of the alleged funding of the armed conflict launched by some Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) elements in Zamboanga City.
Zamboanga Rep. Celso Lobregat and Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao Governor Mujiv Hataman made separate statements following the disclosure by Magdalo party-list lawmakers that several individuals gave the MNLF some P40 million to divert the attention from the pork scam.
Hataman himself said he also heard of this same information released to the media by the Magdalo.
Yesterday, Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano said: “Sa dating administration, kapag may malaking issues, may diversion. Pwede nating sabihin na financier might come from people involved in the [Priority Development Assistance Fund] scam. Di malayo this is a destabilization move against the government.”
Lobregat also said the Magdalo group should disclose everything they know.
“Kung meron information, ilabas nila sino. Nakakapagtaka na 16 na araw na yung conflict na ito. Bakit di sila nauubusan ng bala? Saan sila kumukha ng supplies? How can they sustain a 16-day firefight?"
Lobregat said that the MNLF elements have resorted to ransacking the homes of those in conflict areas for food.
