Sheryl Cruz and Grace Poe
MANILA - Senator Grace Poe spoke kindly of her cousin Sheryl Cruz, who is opposing her 2016 presidential bid.
In a statement, the 47-year-old Poe said: "I thank Sheryl for her opinion and concern for us. As family, we will give her the love and respect she deserves."
Cruz earlier claimed that Poe is not yet ready to run for president in 2016. The actress was speaking at the sidelines of a press conference for the upcoming biopic "Felix Manalo."
"Ang feeling ko it is just to abrupt, it is just too early. Masama ba ang sinabi ko na sana wag muna sa ngayon?" she said.

Cruz added that Poe would make a better leader in 2022 after she has made her mark as a senator. She also denied being used by Poe's political rivals.
Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero, the running mate of Poe, refused to comment on the issue. He urged the two parties to resolve it privately.
"Mas nanaisin ko palagi, anumang personal na hindi pagkakaunawaan, huwag nang ihalo sa ingay at gulo ng pulitika. Hayaan nating pamilya ang magresolba niyan," he said.
"Hangga't maaari, ayaw kong sumali at dumamay dahil baka sa dulo magkakabati na sila, kaaway pa rin nila ako," he added. - with reports from Ryan Chua and Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
