PNoy gets back his groove with 'Bosses'

MANILA – Public satisfaction with President Benigno Aquino III hit its highest in one-and-a-half years, the Social Weather Stations (SWS) said.

The third quarter survey, published first by BusinessWorld, found 64% satisfied, 14% undecided, and 22% dissatisfied with Mr. Aquino’s performance, resulting in a net satisfaction score of a ''good'' +41.

This quarter's net satisfaction score was an 11-point increase from last quarter's +30. It is also the highest since the ''good'' +45 the President got in March 2014.

Presidential Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. welcomed the result of the survey.

''We are grateful to our Bosses --- the Filipino people --- for reaffirming their satisfaction with the President's performance. This is a clear vote of confidence on the Aquino administration's good governance advocacy that has brought about significant reforms,'' Coloma said.

''The Filipino people have acknowledged the tangible results of Daang Matuwid, in terms of improved quality of life, as a result of steady and sustainable economic growth for the past five years.

''Indeed the country's journey along Daang Matuwid has come a long way, going into the last nine months of the President's term --- and bodes well for the country's future."


In terms of geographical areas, the President saw significant increases in his satisfaction scores in Balance Luzon, Visayas and Metro Manila.

His net satisfaction rating increased by 16 points to +46 in Balance Luzon; by 15 points to +50 in the Visayas; and by 10 points to +18 in Metro Manila. It stayed at +39 in Mindanao.

Net satisfaction with the President rose by three points to +32 in urban areas. It increased by 15 points to +46 in rural areas.

In terms of economic classes, the President's satisfaction rating increased by 12 points to +39 among respondents in the D class (masa); and by 15 points to +49 among those in class E.

It stayed at +44 among ABC respondents.

SWS classifies net satisfaction ratings of +70 and above as ''excellent''; +50 to +69 as ''very good''; +30 to +49, ''good''; +10 to +29, ''moderate'', +9 to -- 9, ''neutral''; -- 10 to -- 29, ''poor''; -- 30 to -- 49, ''bad''; -- 50 to -- 69, ''very bad''; as well as -- 70 and below as ''execrable.''

The survey, conducted on Sept. 2-5 among 1,200 adults nationwide, had sampling error margins of ±3 percentage points for national percentages and ±6 points each for Metro Manila, ''Balance of Luzon,'' the Visayas and Mindanao.
