It has been three years since Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo died in a plane crash but the pain of his passing remains fresh for his widow.

Camarines Sur 3rd District Representative Leni Robredo remembered her husband through a poignant message she posted on her social media page.

"Today, we remember what the pain was like three years ago. But through all the pain, we are grateful to have been given the privilege of sharing a life with him," Robredo said in her post.

Robredo, who has three daughters with Jesse, also highlighted how loving Jesse was.

"In his very short life with us, he gave us the gift of having been loved in the way he believed we deserve to be loved." she said.

On Tuesday, President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III flew to Naga City to spearhead activities to remember Robredo. August 18, also known as Jesse Robredo day, has been declared a holiday in Naga City.

"We hope that the life, career, and legacy of the former Naga City Mayor and former Secretary of the Interior and Local Government will serve as an inspiration and challenge to public servants of the future," Malacanang added.
