MANILA, Philippines - The camp of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo quashed speculations there was wrongdoing on her part for advancing funds from the President’s Social Fund, which was allegedly earmarked for her successor.
In an interview with ANC, lawyer Raul Lambino said he has yet to see the report of the Commission on Audit but noted “for as long as it’s still within her term, what’s wrong with that?”
The Commission on Audit is investigating how the former President was able to spend close P100 million, which she advanced from the social fund.
On Tuesday, Tan told lawmakers the P98.6 million was advanced in May 2010 from the June 2010 PSF.
She claimed this should have already been under the control of President Benigno Aquino III, who took over in June 30, 2010.
Lambino said they are ready to answer allegations at the proper time.
