MANILA - The Sandiganbayan First Division has allowed former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to attend the wake of her brother, Arturo Macapagal, today, as well as the burial at the Heritage Park on Saturday.
The court, however, denied her request to attend the novena mass on August 19.
The anti-graft court said Mrs. Arroyo cannot grant media interviews during her furlough; her use of communication gadgets will be regulated, she will be escorted by the police and she will shoulder all expenses.
Mrs. Arroyo will attend her brother's wake today from 4 p.m. - 8 p.m. and burial on Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Mrs. Arroyo is currently under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center for plunder in connection with the alleged misuse of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) funds.
Arturo Macapagal, son of the late President Diosdado Macapagal from his first wife, Purita dela Rosa, passed away Tuesday morning after battling prostate cancer.
His remains have been cremated.
