MANILA (2ND UPDATE) - Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's half-brother, Arturo dela Rosa Macapagal, passed away this morning.

Macapagal had been confined at the Makati Medical Center for prostate cancer.

Arroyo was supposed to see him today for a 5-hour furlough from 3 to 8 pm. Instead, the Sandiganbayan First Division has allowed the former president to attend the wake of her brother at the Heritage Park in Taguig on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Arturo was the son of President Diosdado Macapagal from his first wife, Purita dela Rosa.

He and Cielo Macapagal were half-siblings of the former president and Diosdado Jr. or Buboy. Cielo was the eldest of the four Macapagal siblings.

The former president and Buboy are the late president's children with former First Lady Evangelina Macapagal.

The Pampanga representative is currently under hospital arrest at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center for plunder in connection with the alleged misuse of Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) funds.
