MANILA - The oldest member of the Senate has found a new hobby: playing with his iPad.
In between tedious hearings and sessions, 89-year-old Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile would open his iPad and play Bejeweled, a tile-matching video game where players swap gems with adjacent ones to form a chain of three or more similarly colored gems.
Enrile was photographed by a radio reporter playing the game during the Senate's Blue Ribbon Committee's hearing on the so-called "sex for flight" scheme on Thursday.
"Pag ako gusto kong ma-exercise 'yong gray matter ko, nilalaro ko ito para makita ko kung gaano ako kabilis makatapos ng isang game," he told reporters.
Enrile proudly declared that he already reached level 271 of the game with a score of over 7 million.
He said he learned the game on his own after a staff at his former law office installed it.
Asked if he plays other games such as Candy Crush, Enrile quipped, "I don't like to eat candies."
