MANILA - Batangas Governor Vilma Santos on Tuesday said there is nothing that can change her mind on not running for vice president along with Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas, the administration's standard bearer for the 2016 elections.
Santos thanked her colleagues in the Liberal Party (LP) for believing that she would be a good vice president.
However, she maintained that in case she decides to run for public office again next year, she would rather run as congresswoman in the province of Batangas.
Over 1,200 local government officials, from barangay captains, mayors, congressmen to governors, all over the country gathered at the Gloria Maris restaurant in Greenhills on Tuesday to show their support for Roxas.
Among those who attended the gathering were Representatives Leni Robredo and Neptali Gonzales, Albay Governor Joey Salceda, and Quezon City Mayor Herbert Bautista.
The event started with video presentations of the achievements and sacrifices of the Roxas family.
Several local government officials also spoke on stage and expressed their support for Roxas.
They also extolled his virtues and qualities, explaining why he should be the next President of the country.
The President's endorsement speech and Roxas' acceptance speech as the LP's standard bearer were also replayed several times during the event.
