MANILA - Senator Joseph Victor "JV" Ejercito is appealing to authorities to allow Senate Minority Leader Juan Ponce Enrile to bring his iPad to the Philippine National Police General Hospital in Camp Crame.

The reason: Enrile should be allowed to play his favorite game "Bejeweled."

"Palagay ko, sana payagan, kahit na walang WiFi, kahit na makapaglaro lang sya ng Bejeweled, ok na siguro yun," said Ejercito, tongue-in-cheek.

During some sessions in the Senate, news cameras chanced upon Enrile with his IPad, usually playing the game. Enrile had said the game is a form of mind exercise.

The Senate minority Leader is detained due to plunder and graft charges filed against him by the Ombudsman before the Sandiganbayan.

For Ejercito, his visit to Enrile is an eye-opener on the current state of detention facilities in the country.

"Siguro this has opened our eyes na yung state ng ating detention facilities, that needs to be upgraded, na sana ay mabigyan ng konting budget para maging mas humane ang conditions,” he said.
