MANILA - The camp of Senator Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Friday expressed dismay over the decision of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to extend the filing of the Statement of Contributions and Expenditures (SOCE) for candidates and parties who failed to meet the deadline, which include the Liberal Party (LP) of Vice President-elect Leni Robredo.

Marcos' political adviser, Abakada Party-list Rep. Jonathan Dela Cruz, said the law is very clear that the submission of SOCE should not be extended beyond the deadline.

He lamented that the poll body sided with those who were remiss in their obligation while thousands of other candidates exerted all efforts to submit their campaign expense reports on time.

"36,000 yata ang nag-file na mga kumandidato noong eleksyon na ito. Mahirap naman sabihin na hindi ito naintindihan nung mga hindi nakapag-file," he said.

"Nakakalungkot lang na ang mga batas natin hindi napapatupad. Lahat naman nagtiyaga para ayusin (ang SOCE)," he added.

Dela Cruz said their lawyers will look into the Comelec decision once they get hold of a copy.

The Marcos camp, meanwhile, said they will push through with their election protest to be filed before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal by June 27.
