MANILA -- Batangas Governor Vilma Santos-Recto on Wednesday said she has no plans to run for a higher position.

"Pero kung sasabihin niyo po any political plans, with all honesty, wala po talaga," Santos said in an interview on DZMM.

"Kaya now, if you are asking me for any political plans, talagang wala po. I may run, or may not run anymore. Pero ang focus ko po ngayon, sa totoo lang, ay Batangas, last term ko na po so gusto ko pong grumadweyt with honors," she added.

Aside from focusing on her last term as governor of Batangas, Santos added she has yet to receive a formal offer to run for a higher position.

"Alam niyo po lahat itong mga ganitong usapan sa vice president, ito naman ho ay nababasa ko lang at 'yan ho ay napapanood ko lang sa TV, but if you will talk about a formal offer, o nag-usap talaga, wala ho talagang ganyan. But again I thank them for considering me," she said.

"So kapag alam ko po na hindi ko kakayanin, and as of now if you will ask me, I am not mentally, physically and emotionally prepared for that. So 'yun po ang sitwasyon ko ngayon," she added.

When asked whether she is considering running for a legislative position, Santos said she is not keen on running for senator, since it will need more preparation.

'Ralph respects my decision'

As the wife of Senator Ralph Recto, Santos admits her husband is her mentor. She clarified, however, that Recto respects her decisions.

We talk about it, but at the end of the day, nirerespeto niya ang magiging desisyon ko, and then ga-guide-an lang niya lang ako ng pros and cons, ilalatag niya, nasa akin na po ang desisyon," Santos said.

Santos said after her term as governor of Batangas, she wants to focus on finishing her movie with her son, Luis' girlfriend, Angel Locsin.
