Senator Ralph Recto and Governor Vilma Santos
MANILA - Senator Ralph Recto said his wife, Vilma Santos, will retire from politics when she finishes her term as governor of Batangas province.
Recto told reporters on Wednesday that as far as he knows, Santos plans to retire and go back to the show business.
“She’s looking at making more movies,” he said.
“So sa lahat ng kapwa ko Vilmanians, panoorin n’yo ang mga bagong pelikulang lalabas ni Vi (So to all my fellow Vilmanians, watch Vi’s new movies).”
Although she is reportedly being considered as a running mate to some possible presidential candidates like Vice President Jejomar Binay, Recto said Santos has not been offered to run for any higher position in 2016.
Should Santos decide to run for a higher position, Recto joked that it would be for president, and he would be her vice.
“Many thanks to all those considering my wife. She’s very good. If I had my choice, I’d get her as my VP, too,” he said. “I don’t think there’s any serious talk.”
Asked if Santos was getting offers from any political party, Recto replied, “She’s doing a movie right now.”
