MANILA - President Aquino will by flying to Myanmar on Friday for a day-long trip to attend the World Economic Forum on East Asia. He will fly back to Manila Friday evening.

While there, the President is expected to invite foreign investors and tourists to visit the Philippines.

“The agenda of the Aquino administration is to generate inclusive growth and we can do that by inviting investors in who can create jobs and that is the way of sustaining the anti-poverty programs that we have begun,” Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office (PCDSPO) Secretary Ricky Carandang said.

“I think we’re going to try to reach a broad range… of potential investors. Our thrust for the last few years has been tourism, agriculture, and infrastructure, and we’re hoping that we can get investors to come in on those three areas in particular.”

Aquino will also invite the delegates to attend next year’s summit which will be hosted by the Philippines.

Aquino will also have separate meetings with Myanmar President Thein Sein and opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi.
