MANILA - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) has already submitted to the Department of Justice (DOJ) its report on its investigation into the Sabah standoff that began in February.
This was confirmed by NBI Deputy Director for Regional Operations Virgilio Mendez. He, however, refused to give details on their findings and recommendations.
Justice Secretary Leila De Lima earlier announced the report would be submitted to President Aquino who, in turn, shall give the clearance for its release to the public.
The investigation was aimed at determining who should be held liable for the standoff, which was caused by the entry into Sabah of Sulu Sultanate Jamalul Kiram's men.
Kiram's group staged the operation to stake their claim on Sabah but the Philippine government maintained that the territorial dispute may not be resolved by taking up arms.
