MANILA - Vice President Jejomar Binay remains steadfast in his presidential candidacy despite being challenged by major corruption issues from his time as mayor of Makati City.

His daughter, Makati Rep. Mar-Len Abigail Binay said in a text message, “He is not a quitter.”

An ally, UNA President and Navotas Rep. Toby Tiangco said, “There is no truth to that. VP will definitely not quit.

Binay has been a frontrunner in surveys for presidential preferences for the 2016 presidential elections.

The Vice President is being dogged by corruption issues that stemmed from his alleged misuse of funds and kickbacks from various projects when he was Makati mayor.

The Senate is reportedly poised to recommend the filing of a complaint for plunder before the Office of the Ombudsman.
