MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Elections (Comelec) on Friday filed a motion for reconsideration before the Pasay Regional Trial Court asking for an extension to present a key witness in the electoral sabotage case against former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.
Judge Jesus Mupas earlier directed the Comelec to rest their case in the ongoing bail hearing after failing to produce former Maguindanao provincial administrator Norie Unas last Thursday.
The Comelec said it was forced to hide Unas for the time being because of threats to his security.
Furnished with the Comelec's motion is a missing person report for Russam Mabang, another witness who failed to appear before the court yesterday.
The poll body has also asked the court to issue an arrest warrant against Mabang.
