MANILA - A party-list group that snagged at least 2 seats in the House of Representatives in the May 13 polls said the Commission on Elections should no longer use Smartmatic precinct count optical scan (PCOS) machines in the 2016 elections.
Bayan Muna Rep. Neri Colmenares said although their group is for automation, the PCOS machines' disappointing performance in the 2010 and 2013 elections should be enough basis for Comelec to try something new.
"Kahit pro-automation, hindi yun pcos ng smartmatic. We will really fight tooth and nail that they should not control the elections in 2016, pumalpak ng 2013 and 2010. I don't think we should allow them to influence the 2016 elections," he said in an interview on ANC's "Headstart."
AGAP congressman-elect Nicanor Briones said the group is happy with the conduct of this year's elections.
He said the delays in the proclamation of winners are shorter compared to previous elections.
