DAVAO - Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francis Tolentino is seeking the support of both the mayor of Davao City and a pastor based in this city for his senatorial bid in 2016.

This is according to Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, who said the MMDA chief went to Davao one weekend to seek his endorsement.

Duterte said he will give his full support for Tolentino who previously served as mayor of Tagayaty City for nine years.

He also brought the MMDA chief to Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, founder and leader of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, The Name Above Every Name, Inc., and asked the pastor to endorse Tolentino.

"Tatakbo ata senador. Inunahan ko na, sinamahan ko siya kay Pastor Quibology. At least meron kang a certain number of votes para sa iyo. Tutal 12 (senators) naman kayo lahat," he said in an interview on local program Gikan sa Masa Para sa Masa.

"Nakiusap din ako kay Pastor na suportahan natin siya. 'Pastor, ako I'll be supporting.' Tapos, sabi ni Pastor: 'Sige, tutal mabait na tao ito...' The pastor is very accommodating. Pag mahusay ka na tao, wala ka namang record na masama, hindi ka naman killer, wala ka naman kaso sa human rights, OK ka kay Pastor."

Tolentino earlier denied reports that he is now visiting different parts of the country as part of his campaign to run for senator in 2016.

He told radio DZMM he only visits places where he is invited. "Pag naiimbita po tayo, pumupunta po tayo," he said.

He also told ABS-CBN's Bandila news program that he might run for mayor of Tagaytay City again while weighing his own chances in running for senator.

"Mapagkumbabang hindi ko po kayang sagutin yan ngayon," he said.
