MANILA, Philippines - Sexy celebrity dancer-singer Mocha joined pro-reproductive health (RH) advocates in tying purple ribbons around Batasan Pambansa’s South Gate this morning to call for the passage of the controversial measure.
Mocha and her group, some included tricycle drivers, gave away condoms and purple ballers with the words “I love sex education."
Mocha was met by Davao Rep. Marc Cagas, himself a pro-RH advocate. Cagas and Mocha exchanged “beso-beso” as Mocha gave Cagas a condom.
Cagas even posed as one of the reporters initially and interviewed Mocha on the spot on the RH Bill, before he himself spoke in support of the measure.
Later on, Cagas was jokingly introduced by the media to Mocha.
In calling for the passage of the bill, Mocha cited the many emails from the youth she gets on sex which, to her, means the youth are not getting properly educated on sex from their parents.
Mocha supports sex education for the youth, as well as measures that uphold women’s health.
She also called on anti-RH advocate Sarangani Rep. Manny Pacquiao, whom she called her idol, to instead back the bill.
Mocha said some poor people don’t have enough to buy condoms because they can barely spend for food.
Cagas expressed happiness that Mocha was in Congress to support the RH Bill.
Cagas said the RH bill is just one of the government’s solutions to poverty. He hopes everyone will keep an open mind about the RH Bill.
