MANILA - Filipino investigators were not barred by Taiwanese officials from conducting its probe on the killing of a Taiwanese fisherman in an encounter with the Philippine Coast Guard.

Deputy presidential spokesperson Abigail Valte said a statement of a Taiwanese official was only mistranslated.

“In fact, nagpadala nga daw po ng bagong request ‘yung Taiwan side about the investigation so nagulat din po sila at the report. That’s why they sought to clarify; the clarification was made,” she added.

Valte said National Bureau of Investigation investigators are just waiting for the date when they can conduct the probe.
