MANILA - Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman Sixto Brillantes will endorse to Congress a bill postponing the October 2013 barangay elections.
"I'd like to postpone the barangay elections. I'd rather prepare for 2016. I suggest, October 2014 or January 2015 [for barangay polls],” he said.
He said they still have their hands full with the mid-term elections. He expects protest cases to be filed soon.
Brillantes says the October barangay election is too close to the midterm elections.
“We expect protest cases. We’re drafting new protest rules,” he said.
