MANILA – Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero is not yet keen on reconciling with the parents of his girlfriend, actress Heart Evangelista, saying he will just let "time heal wounds."
"Hayaan nating panahon na rin ang makapagsabi noon. Pero wala sigurong 'di pagkakaunawaan na hindi mahihilom ng panahon," Escudero told ABS-CBN's "Umagang Kay Ganda".
Evangelista's parents earlier expressed their strong objection to her relationship with the senator, detailing instances when they felt "disrespected" by the lawmaker who they accused of being "arrogant" and an "alcoholic."
"She has not thought about this sufficiently or properly. We think she should think about this for a longer period of time. Nag-aalala lang kami sa anak namin," said Cecile Ongpacuo, Evangelista's mother.
Big family, marriage
Escudero, who said in February that he wants to marry Evangelista in 5 years, admitted he wants to have many children.
"Maganda iyung malaking pamilya. Nakita ko yan sa pagtanda ko. Tatlo lang kasi kami, iba pa rin ang marami kayo. Iba pa rin ang malaking pamilya para sa akin," he said, without specifying the exact number children he wants to have.
Escudero's 7-year marriage marriage with Cristine Elizabeth Flores was annulled in 2012. He has two children with Flores, twins Maria Cecilia and Joaquin.
Escudero is now on his second term as senator. He served for 9 years in the House of Representatives as congressman of Sorsogon, and won his first 6-year term as senator in 2007.
